Cyspera Cysteamine 5% has become the mainstay of hiqroquinone free hyperpigmentation treatment
Hydroquinone has been used for decades as the gold standard for hyperpigmentation problems. Although still controversial, hydroquinone is known to have a reputation as a mutagenic and carcinogenic compound. Both of these compounds are melano-cytotoxic agents known to induce ochronosis. Meanwhile, non-hydroquinone compounds such as kojic acid, arbutin, azelaic acid, retinoids, and hydroxy acids show lower efficacy.
